IMPORTANT DRONE INFORMATION

We had a situation recently where a drone was flown close to the aerodrome runway. Thankfully it was sited and the pilot alerted, but it had the potential to cause a very serious accident with one of our aircraft.

Please note that drones cannot be flown within 4km of an uncontrolled aerodrome (Hawera Aero Club) or helipad (Hawera Hospital) unless certain conditions are met. It’s important you are aware of these conditions as flying near an aerodrome or helipad can create a hazard to other aircraft.
